Pottuvil Grand Mosque was founded in 1890 by Saibo Marikkar. It was a very modest structure made of palm leaves until 1948 when it was rebuilt with brick. The present structure with beautiful dome and minarets was built in 2014 by Sadaqatullah Hajiar. It is now commonly known as Pudiya Palli (New Mosque).
