Mosque Tour Program in Anuradhapura an Immense Success
A Mosque Tour Program organized by the Centre for Islamic Studies (CIS) was held successfully at Anuradhapura Mohideen Mosque on Sunday, 29th October 2017.
Visitors including Members of Parliament and religious dignitaries of all faiths were given a tour of this historical mosque, free calligraphy of their names in beautiful Arabic script and gift packs of literature. Other features of the tour included a poster exhibition and a special Henna Corner for the Ladies. The Program was organized by CIS in collaboration with the trustees of Mohideen Mosque led by Mohamed Dilshan.
Mohamed Jaleel, Outreach Director, CIS said that the tour was a great success with about 120 persons of other faiths participating. “We had the Chief Prelate of Anuradhapura, a Kurukkal and Christian Father, Member of Parliament Asoka Marasinghe, Provincial Councilors, Government Officials and even Police Officers participating, which shows the wide acceptance of the program as an inter-faith initiative to build good relations with all communities”.
Asiff Hussein, Vice President, Outreach, CIS said that his organization had received the support of the religious establishment and mosque trustees in many parts of the island. “A year ago we had a hard time convincing trustees of mosques to come on board, but today they are earnestly requesting us to conduct mosque tour programs in all parts of the country and we simply cannot meet the demand. This year we plan to have mosque tour programs in the Central, Eastern and Northern Provinces”, he said.
